Guardian Families

Joyful Golden Retrievers is located in beautiful Defiance, Missouri...just outside St. Louis.  We are always looking for qualified guardian families to be owners to our breeding females.  We love our guardian families as they become family to us.  Please contact us today to discuss being a guardian family.  

A guardian family is a forever family for our female dogs.  We would keep them all with us, but we couldn't give them all the love they deserve.  So we place some of our females in their forever home as a puppy.  The puppy is theirs but we have an agreement that we breed the dog when the time is right.

We place our dogs in guardian homes so they will be loved from the beginning from the same family.  We are NOT a puppy mill.  Our guardian families are chosen with with strict guidelines in mind.  These families agree to let us breed the female but after retirement, the dog stays with them.  Our dogs go through vigorous testing at age two, if they do not pass, they will not be used for breeding. This is another great reason to use guardians as the dog will have one and only one family.

• Love, love and more love
• Family  member works  from home  or  is  home  the  majority  of  time
• Fenced  and safe yard
• Live within a reasonable distance to breeder
• No other intact male dogs within the home or nearby with access to our female
• Willingness to return the dog during short periods of breeding and whelping 
• Communication regarding the health and happiness of the dog
• Exercise and socialize the dog
• Feed the dog quality food recommended by Joyful Golden Retrievers
